Proceedings of Topical Issues in International Political Geography

Abstract

This article is aimed at addressing issues of sustainable tourism development within current international system. The paper analyzes the formation of sustainable industrial tourism as a leisure activity. Using the example of the Federal Republic of Germany, the article examines the results that have been achieved due to the concept of sustainable development in the field of industrial tourism. The article contains recommendations of strengthening international cooperation in this area based on a methodological approach to collecting and interpreting tourism development data, which combines indicators of three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, socio-cultural and environmental). Benchmarking is used as a strategic management tool, which is based on a combination of primary market analysis using statistical data in order to create a theoretical basis for sustainable tourism in the international arena.
