Abstract

The solitary polyps of the small intestine and polyps related to hereditary polyposis syndrome, including familial adenomatous polyposis and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, can be managed endoscopically by using balloon-assisted enteroscopy.

The cylindrical distal attachment is useful for securing the endoscopic visual field and working space. Considering the risk of bleeding and perforation, strangulation treatment is acceptable for polyps that do not require confirmation of the pathological findings. For safe endoscopic treatment without complications, anatomical features of the small intestine should be well recognized.
