Abstract
In this paper experiences are reported in activity to design and reconstruct an ancient Roman crane by referring to archaeological remains and the literature related to Vitruvius work as republished during Renaissance. The design has been developed with mechanical considerations also of a practical modern functionality as function of the materials that have been considered for the reconstruction as inspired by archaeological studies.
