Abstract
The theme of the reproduction of the work of art and that of the reproducibility of the image crosses almost the entire history of art. Its decisive juncture is represented by Walter Benjamin’s essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1936) which supports the latter for its completely innovative and revolutionary scope that embodies a true “democratic opening” of artistic technology.
