Abstract

In this entry, common robotic architectures employed in rehabilitation robotics are presented, focusing on their specific strengths and drawbacks, with examples of commercially available devices for each architecture. The main control strategies currently implemented to promote brain plasticity and functional recovery via robot-aided rehabilitation are illustrated. Finally, current trends and future directions in the field are discussed.
