Abstract

Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous inflammatory disease of unknown etiology with a heterogeneous clinical presentation, which seems to result from an interplay between environmental factors in genetically predisposed individuals. The main hallmark of sarcoidosis is the development of noncaseating granulomas in the lungs, lymph nodes, and skin typically; however, unpredictable affection of any organ system is possible, which makes diagnosis often difficult for health providers.
