Abstract
Tourism is the industry that currently has the widest boundaries, bringing together participants from different countries and destinations to provide tourist services that best meet the needs of tourists. All this would be practically impossible without the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). In the modern digital era, ICTs play an important role in the tourism, travel and hospitality industry. ICT makes it easier for enterprises and people to access information about tourism products from anywhere in the world at any time. The purpose of this article is to consider the challenges and opportunities of the ICT in the tourism industry from the standpoint of increasing its export potential in digital age and ensuring a high level of attractiveness of tourist destinations. For the purposes of the study, we used scientific analysis, systematization and literature review. We primarily analyzed the role of ICT in tourism industry for: (1) the service providers (airlines, hotels, catering, etc.), the travel firms, and other intermediaries, (2) the final consumers, and (3) the countries.
