Abstract
In the introduction to this section, we introduced the key idea of engaged research. In the next how-to sections of this book, we look at some of the practical actions we can take to implement these ideas in real-world research. Before we do that, we need to introduce two further organizing ideas that underpin this book: the idea of research products—the technologies, services, toolkits, and policies that will be produced through our research and implemented and used in the “real world”; the Product Innovation Pathway (PIP) model that represents different levels of product maturity.
