Abstract

Since the beginning of the space activities, the global community speculated about the relation between planet Earth and the space environment, and on the potential offered by the space enabled services to safeguard a country’s political, economic, and social sovereignty. Through the decades, space technologies progressively enhanced global safety, by improving domestic and international coordination and strategies. In particular, this chapter will focus of the relation between space systems and the security issues linked to a State’s sovereignty.
