Abstract
Determining the criteria of Material Handling equipment selection is a primary and important step in the material handling equipment selection. While these criteria often are in conflict with each other due to which selection of equipment is a complex decision-making process. This paper proposes a ranking of the various criteria of material handling equipment selection based on the AHP method. The criteria for selection of MHE considered for this paper are safety, capacity, cost, standardization, maintenance, flexibility, and space utilization. The ranking of the criteria carried out using AHP. An example has been presented for the method.
