Abstract
Elisabeth Gregor (née Moyle) (1665–1716) was a Cornish gentlewoman who composed a commonplace book of verse, bound with an annotated print copy of Edmund Waller’s poetry, now housed in Yale University’s Beinecke Library. In addition to her own manuscript composition, Gregor collected books, including a copy of Shakespeare’s Third Folio, currently a part of Meisei University’s holdings. Gregor played a foundational role in the creation of the library at Trewarthenick House (her family’s estate near Truro), where she established an atmosphere of reading and learning that generations of the Gregor family continued to enjoy after her death.
