Abstract

Hearing impairment affects over 30 million people in the United States and is the fourth leading cause of disability worldwide [1, 2]. As hearing loss is primarily associated with increasing age, its prevalence is expected to rise with an aging population [2]. Hearing loss can significantly degrade quality of life and physical function and has been associated with cognitive decline, dementia, and depression [3, 4].
